Pink Himalayan Salt is mined from the second largest Salt deposit in the world - The Khewra Salt Mine. Located amongst the mountain ranges of Pakistan, it is believed to have originated some 800 million years ago. Naturally occuring and free from chemical additions, Himalayan salt also contains trace amounts of minerals such as potassium , magnesium and calcium.

Some Beneficial Properties

Essentials
Largely made up of Sodium and Chloride Ions, Salt is essential for human health. It is often used as a preservative and to add flavour to foods.

Function
Sodium is required to regulate blood pressure, bodily fluids, nerve and muscle function. Chloride ions are important electrolytes that aid in the production of stomach acids. Humans lose salt through perspiration and it must be replenshed through their diets.

A Note
Whilst only a small amount is required to sustain the body , choosing an unrefined natural salt over one that has been chemically cleaned and treated with the anti-caking agents often found in regualr table salts may be more favourable.
